Why the name CFOR?CFOR stands for Force for Change. In volatile conflict and post-conflict zones, you see U.N. forces trying to keep the peace. In the former Yugoslavia, we saw SFOR (Stabilization Force) vehicles everywhere. IFOR was to implement the Dayton accord. And in Kosovo, KFOR was on the scene. An idea popped up. In a future world, might community forums be a ‘force’ for peace, or ‘force for change?![]() We’ve seen forums create the possibility of reconciliation in areas of conflict, and violence prevention. Individuals and communities become aware of how they play a part in perpetuating conflict , and how they can make a difference. In this way, they get to know their responsibility, take more active leadership and don’t fall for leadership and media that spreads disinformation, manipulation and polarization of conflict, and violence. CFOR was founded to recognise the creative force of awareness. |
